Traditional neighborhood living in a spectacular natural setting

An outlier among Malibu's communities, the coastal peninsula that is Point Dume features a traditional neighborhood layout within a majestic setting. Yes, there is plenty of oceanfront property along the meandering coastline, and Point Dume does offer residents several pristine, private beaches, but it’s more than just a seaside haven.
Interior lots are spacious, with palatial estate homes and plenty of room to roam for large or growing families and their guests. The streets are thick with foliage, with gently rolling hills and meandering creeks providing the ambiance of rural ranch living. At its heart is the top-rated Malibu Elementary School.
Once upon a time, when the neighborhood was more sparsely populated, beachside homes could be purchased for under $10 million. Now, these same homes are $20 million to $30 million and rising. Interior options range from $2 million blank slates waiting for your inspiration to $8 million homes ready for your personal touch. Either option is a worthy investment—value is high, and so is the livability.
Unlike other Malibu neighborhoods where the typical setup is street, house, beach (spectacular as that may be), Point Dume proffers a more conventional counter: homes that feel part of a collective neighborhood, versus a collection of houses. It's an ideal setting for families who want space (or proximity to a great school) or a second or third property where the home is a getaway.
Ultimately, what Point Dume represents is a coastal Malibu lifestyle for those with no qualms forgoing the coastal address.
As Point Dume sits near Malibu's geographical center, even with its seclusion, you're close to many of the city's most popular commercial areas. Point Dume Village sits at the community's northwestern edge and features Latin fare from Lily's Malibu.
A few minutes east, Geoffrey's Malibu serves contemporary California cuisine overlooking the Pacific. The Sunset Restaurant and its sun-drenched setting on Westward Beach is within walking distance from many homes on Point Dume's western border. Continue traveling along the Pacific Coast Highway, and you'll find the Trancas Country Market shopping village.
Point Dume's most significant feature, the rocky namesake point jutting out into the Pacific Ocean, is a recreational high point in the neighborhood. In addition to walking trails along the bluff, the area holds Point Dume State Beach and the accompanying Pirates Cove Beach, Big Dume Beach, and the exclusive Little Dume Beach.
Regardless of your landing spot along this portion of the Malibu coast, boating, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and surfing are always close by.
Point Dume is home to a number of excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:
